I AM. It took me almost 50 years to get to the conclusion that what I am and who I am is enough.
I am a child of this earth. When I say that, I don't mean a cricket or a potato bug. I am referring to my upbringing. Born in Switzerland, raised in all parts of Europe and in Asia, I travelled the world many times over until I was in my thirties.
Needing a change in pace and feeling that I was draining myself I migrated to the United States. Montana is my home of choice, but sometimes I feel like a colorful butterfly in a place of quiet majestic nature, big skies and cowboys. But here is where I found peace.
The Dao, Qi gong and principals of Ying and Yang have always been part of my life. As a child I learn Karate, Kickboxing, Tai Chi and Meditation. But I did not follow the path of harmony once I grew up. After college I decided to dive into the world of careers, success and money. The classic rat race led me to a burn out (or maybe two), a feeling of stuck-ness and despair. Sadness for no reason. And most of all, the burning question of "what am I doing and why"?
A spiritual journey and a drastic change in my life brought me back to my I AM, my Harmony and my life purpose. I want to combine ancient eastern tradition with modern western ways to help people find harmony, balance and health in todays world.
On a beautiful sunny day I was sitting at the window at the Park Lane hotel in Hong Kong. I was just a teenager in a city I didn't know and with a father that left me alone while he was at work, but trusted me enough not to get in trouble.
I sat and watched people in the park below me.
A very old man, with a bent back and a walking stick came walking down a path towards the grassy field I could see from my window. He leaned his cane against a bench and stepped in the middle of the grass. I watched him stand in Wuji posture and center himself. A lightness came over his face and within moments he started with light flowing movements of his Tai Chi practice. His back was straight, his movements flowing and supple and every step he took looked like an elegant dance. I watched in fascination.
After his practice was completed he walked back to the bench, grabbed his stick and walked slowly back the path he had come from.
I thought I saw magic! How on earth would an old man become so very young through flowing movements? I needed to know, learn and understand. I was hooked.
And this is what started my Tai Chi practice over 35 years ago....
Forgive the past, release the future and embrace the present with gratitude.
